Today is Microsoft’s latest Patch Tuesday, and it’s a big one.  The software company released twelve security bulletins which together address 57 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, and other products.  Five of the bulletins are considered critical, and should be installed as soon as possible.  For more information, visit Microsoft’s Safety & Security Center.

Adobe also released updates for the Adobe Flash Player for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android and the Adobe Shockwave Player for Windows and Mac.  You can download the latest versions at the Flash Player and Shockwave Player download sites.

Next Tuesday, Oracle plans to make available an updated version of the February 2013 Critical Patch Update it released on February 1st.  For more information, visit the Oracle Software Security Assurance Blog.  You can install the latest version of Java, which includes the critical February 1st fixes, at the Java download site.

As always, ITS recommends that you keep your computers and other devices up to date with the latest security fixes in order to protect your machines and your data from malicious code and unauthorized access.  For instructions on setting your computer to automatically check for updates, visit the ITS Security page.
