Zero-Day Vulnerability in Internet Explorer

Posted on by mbordas

On September 17, Microsoft published an emergency security advisory and “Fix it” solution to address a zero-day vulnerability affecting all supported versions of Internet Explorer. (Zero-day vulnerabilities are those that exploit previously unknown vulnerabilities and for which there is no available patch.) If successfully exploited, the vulnerability would allow an attacker to take control of your computer.

The Fix it solution is offered as a work-around to mitigate the vulnerability while Microsoft prepares a full security update.

For more information, see Microsoft’s support site. Users of Internet Explorer can run the Fix it solution by visiting the support site – using Internet Explorer – and clicking the Microsoft Fix it button.
