Patch Tuesday Roundup for January 2014
Today is Patch Tuesday for January, 2014. Microsoft, Adobe, and Oracle all released updates.
Microsoft released four bulletins, all classified as important, addressing vulnerabilities in Office, Windows, Server Software, and Dynamics AX. For more information about Microsoft’s updates, see the Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for January 2014.
Adobe released critical updates for the Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, and Adobe Acrobat. For more information about Adobe’s updates, see its Security Bulletins and Advisories site.
Oracle released its quarterly Critical Patch Update. The update addressed 144 vulnerabilities in numerous products, including Java and MySQL. For more information about Oracle’s updates, see the Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory for January 2014.

Note that Microsoft will end support for the Windows XP operating system on April 8, 2014. This means that the company will no longer provide security or other OS updates to protect XP users from malware and other threats. Additionally, new programs and upgraded versions of existing programs may not function properly on XP systems.
