Phishing Warning: Notice about Email Quarantine Exercise

USC account holders have reported receiving phishing messages similar to the one below, purporting to be from USC’s Information Technology Services. USC is not conducting an email quarantine exercise.

 If you have received the message, please delete the phish; do not respond or click any of the embedded links. If you have responded or clicked the links, change your USC NetID password immediately by going the ITS website, at https://itservices.usc.edu. Under the Popular Logins menu bar, click the link labelled Change your password.

IT Service will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes Updating/Migrating Faculty and Staff, Accounts (USC), My Access & Email Symantec Endpoint Protection Communication to a new SPAM filtering service which will improve Barracuda Spam Firewall Email Security Overview and the ability to identify and block Spam / Phishing attempts and other undesirable messages that flood our email system on a daily basis.

USC Account Users may see the Symantec Endpoint Protection Windows notification pop-up during the update kindly ignore.

USC Accounts, My Access, & Email Users.

What is required?

You are to confirm your USC Email Account Login Details as requested below for Quarantine Exercise and Protection against SPAM by clicking your REPLY button and replying to this email as follows. (This will confirm your USC Email Account login / usage Frequency): Please be informed that we will delete any USC Identity, Account, MyAccess & Email Users account that does not adhere to this notice IMMEDIATELY as part of our (Inactive Accounts (USC) | Barracuda Spam Firewall | Email Security Overview) clean-up process to enable service upgrade efficiency.
